Fire! It's Sirius
Four Amigos, Mucho Fuego
"I got sick of waiting for the light at the end of the tunnel, so I set it on fire."
-Kirk Depierre
The artists behind Fire! It's Sirius have earned their reputation as a talented band who come together for a common purpose: to express themselves uniquely and collectively forging their own style off of inspiration, motivation and the struggles of life. From basement gigs to open mics to venues, bars and clubs (filled or nay), they put on a performance that gives you the feels and evokes an emotional response that correlates with the music they play.
Subjectivity is welcomed. In fact, that's half the fun;)

Band Biography
Through the Looking Glass by Travis McRae
Hi y'all, we are Fire! It's Sirius! You may have already gathered this from the numerous times it's plastered all over the screen (we don't want you to forget!) and my name is Travis.
I put this group together a little over four and a half years ago, now. It started with an idea, to write and play music that not only I loved and wanted to hear, but that sounded like some of my favorite bands. Some of which at the time included, the Mars Volta, Chiodos, Four Year Strong, Coheed and Cambria and New Found Glory. Sounds simple enough, right? Now, I just needed to find the right teammates to make this little pipe dream come to fruition.
I spotted my first feller that is now our lead vocalist and guitarist, Kirk DePierre, years prior at an event called Mustache-Palooza. He was performing in his then super rad, bad as funk band, Patience, Patients. Loved their sound, think Thursday turned way up with some Envy on the Coast and silky, sexy prog rock parts that got your booty tingling. It was band adultery at first sight. I loved the play on words for their name as well, a big inspiration for me to come up with ours (Fire! It's Sirius). Anywho, I was with my group The Kinds at the time, a super fun, funk, party rockin' jam band, I loved those boys and what we did, but my palette was changing and I thought, man, I want to play in a band like Patience, Patients. They had energy, power and presence, something I knew was a full group effort, but there was no denying the magnetism that this guy put out. Fast forward a couple years, an awkward meeting, followed by life doing it's thing and getting in the way, many lengthy phone conversations expressing our fears, hopes and desires in starting a new project from scratch and I get to recruit Kirky to be a part of this endeavor.
About a year after meeting with Kirky, I met Tyler Buck, our drummer. We both worked at the same pizza place, Bilbo's Pizza in a Pan of Portage, MI. We shared a similar taste in music and also similar strength in work ethic. Working at a pizza joint wasn't the only thing we had in common, we both played music. I liked his dedication to making zas, and I thought, what's his level of expertise and innovation to making tunes? I invited him over to jam on memorial day in my basement of 2014. It was instant chemistry, the chugs and bass drum hits were on, the melodies flowed like wine and we continued to play even as the basement flooded and carried away his throne and my $150 drum set. It rained pretty hard that weekend.
Holy heck! I now had a good start to a band. We got to meet up shortly after and would begin writing what is now, "Smithers, Release the Hounds." I knew this was going to be something big, it fit all the imaginary sound clouds I had in my head. And as dudes, these guys were just as cool as punch and pie.
We would harness our skills and hone in our sound for the next couple of years in basements around Kalamazoo. We wanted to write and be sure the material we put out would be worthwhile for the listener to enjoy. It wasn't until about a year and a half later that we decided to venture out to a local open mic at Rupert's Brewhouse. The response we got was awesome. This was well worth the wait.
We played as a trio of two guitars and drums for quite sometime and even recorded all of Sorry, Not Sorry with just us three on instruments.
Then about a year ago, we added the fantastic Mr. Jake Potter on bass. We didn't really know what we were missing until he came along. His work that he put into learning our songs was uncanny and I knew with that amount of effort, we made the right choice in bringing him in, Jake brings his own unique view to a lot of things that the guys and I might otherwise overlook. Having been so close to this project for a few years will do that.
Whew, this was only supposed to be a couple of paragraphs. Bottom line, we love this. We love music and writing it. We're always hoping we can make some friends, fans and memories along the way. This little line of work takes, well, work. We've seen a lot of ups and downs, shows and breaks, flows and blocks, you name it, but we always come back for more. It's a hunger that still demands to be fed. We hope you get to join us on this little merry go round and enjoy the sights and sounds you see and hear.
